Mining noob, I have some questions

Hi everyone, a quick intro here: I come from a professional horticulture background. I've been learning about computers, networking, network security and Linux sys. admin for the last two years. I built a bunch of gaming computers for my kids and I with a bonus check I got in fall of 2017, right before the 2017 "bitcoin bubble". By luck I grabbed all my parts before the price of GPU's skyrocketed. All I've been doing though is learning about Linux and game development, learning digital art like 3D modeling, and streaming video games.
I'm now learning to mine ZEC with tpruvot/ccminer 2.3.1 in Ubuntu 20.04 with Nvidia proprietary driver vers. 440 & CUDA toolkit 10.1. I'm just learning how to do this and understand I'm not making a profit. I'ts more a learning experience and a hobby sort of thing for now. I dont really care if the system breaks, I have another computer with AMD RX560 that I work and game on Linux with. I cant mine with the pollaris GPU because I cant install OpenCL. There is no support for 20.04 from catalyst driver as of now.
TL;DR I'm a noob and wondering why my hashrate is what it is. I am only using 1 GPU as of now (Nvidia 1050Ti 4GB) and mining on a pool. I get an average of 140 Sol/s. Is this essentially the same as H/s and is that a normal number for my card? Should I add a 2nd GPU I have if it's only a 1050 2GB? Also, I am using nvtop & htop packages to monitor PC stats, it shows it's using 99% of GPU and 100% of a single core of my CPU (intel i5 6402P @ 3.2GHz) fans and temps are good.
But it shows I'm only using .6GB / 4GB while mining, is that right? Shouldn't it be using more memory? Would it be overkill to mine with CPU miner at the same time as the 2 cards?

Overheating laptop, I've considered reapplying new thermal paste, need opinions

First time considering this kind of thing, I have a ge62vr (owned for 4 years) and I noticed in the last few weeks that my laptop has been soaring in temps whenever I run twitch, youtube, or surf the internet in general.
As you can see from CPUID, that my max temps were when I was running just 1 youtube video. My current temp is from me running on turboboosted fans for about an hour while typing out this post with no youtube or twitch running https://i.imgur.com/YKvMEdN.png
I have it hooked up to a ASUS 248qe and I extend the laptop monitor as well. So 2 monitors running.
Things I have tried:
-Reenabling GPU acceleration on chrome, thought it fixed the issue because my laptop was running fine after that but started to recently become hot again.
-heavily reducing my chrome usage, seems to only work sometimes. If I start clicking on a youtube/twitch tab, temps will start to rise rapidly again.
-checked for dust, didn't see any clogging up my laptop,
-checked if my fans were working, they both are
-did a malwarebytes virus scan in case I had any fancy bitcoin miners that hide themselves whenever I open task manager, TBH not sure if I did this thoroughly, apparently you need to monitor incoming and outgoing connections to see if your computer is sending information somewhere strange. Which I haven't done.
-uninstalled bloatware, heavily cutdown on the amount of startup apps that run on boot.
-disabling my extended monitor. no difference. Doesn't matter anyway, I've run perfectly cool before while surfing the internet using both monitors.
-all my drivers are updated
-checked for corrupted windows files, no issues
-checked chrome's task manager to see what's killing my cpu/gpu, which is nothing, my gpu and cpu utilization is low and usually stays low about 85% of the time (20% utilization more or less) I'm using it. I've manually frozen tabs I don't use that are heavy (relatively speaking) in resources. Still randomly get elevated temps doing nothing.

Other things I should mention is that I used to have a cooling pad but it recently died, I'm thinking the issue could be that I'm simply in a hot room (78 degrees), weather will be cooling down for the coming week so I'll see if that changes anything. But it doesn't explain why sometimes I'm able to run my laptop cool while watching twitch, listening to music on youtube, while using blender and only be in the high 60s- mid 70s while in a 78 deg room.
Another thing is that I bought a wireless Sennheiser headset a while back which initially didn't cause any problems. But in the recent weeks has started predictably disconnecting 5 minutes after usage and reconnecting on its own. I ran into some odd driver issues with it where it would freeze my laptop for 15 minutes if I tried to access the device in the audio properties panel. And since I got it, booting up my laptop takes 10-15mins rather than instantly like it used to.
What's throwing me off is that sometimes I can use my laptop in its full capacity, (chrome, twitch, youtube, blender, dual monitors, etc) and be fine in temps, and sometimes even doing nothing will run up my laptop to 80c+ and stay there even when I run the turbo boost fan option. It's almost like there's malware running in the background that I can't detect and chooses to run during random times in the day.
Not really sure where I should go from here, I'm thinking about reapplying thermal paste. A lot of people online have said they've had massive success with using liquid metal but I know that it's very risky, that you have to reapply it a year after because of some scientific mumbo jumbo about metals bonding, and could not be a good solution for me considering I plan to buy a PC in about a year. I feel like selling an older laptop that will have to have its thermal paste reapplied could make it harder to sell. Are there any suggestions for non-liquid metal pastes that can achieve pretty good cooling results that I won't have to reapply after a year? Doesn't have to be -20c across the board, but it'd be nice if watching twitch or youtube didn't rachet my laptop up to 90c+
Or do you guys feel this is an issue entirely separate from thermal paste?

My Laptop is Overheating in a very strange way.

Laptop Model: Acer Predator Helios 300, 2017 edition.
CPU: 7700HQ
GPU: Nvidia 1060 6GB
RAM: 16BG
STORAGE: 256 GB SSD, 2 TB HDD (expanded)
My core issues are these:
Whenever a program uses my GPU, my temps skyrocket to 95C-100C on both the CPU and GPU (as shown by Acer Predator Sense, MSI Afterburner, and Throttlestop), even it's just 10% usage happening. In addition to this, I cannot really play games with this GPU anymore because every time I use it, it frequently throttles and games stutter heavily, due to the thermals I believe.
Things to note: The cooling on this laptop has always been bad, ever since I got it in 2017. That being said, I rarely had throttling issues and only when the load on the CPU/GPU was nearing 100%. Yes, I know using it like this has been bad.
I have tried repasting it and cleaning the fans very recently, to no avail. Same temps, same issues. No worse, no better. I have also tried undervolting to the max I can.
I am beginning to suspect I have a bitcoin miner on my PC. Any guides to checking that possibility/getting rid of it would be much appreciated.
Any advice regarding my core issues is very welcome as well.

Edit: I should mention my brother has the exact same PC as I do, which was purchased at the same time as I, but his does not have any of the issues I am facing, for what it's worth.

Desktop PC, CPU temp rises to 100 degrees C

OK. I'll try and do this one by the numbers:
System: Desktop PC. i7 series CPU, AIO liquid cooler. Windows 7, upgraded to win 10, dual boots into Linux. 32 Gb ram and an nVidia 1080 GPU. Coolermaster case.
Problem: GPU temp rises to 100 degrees where it stays, thermally throttling the processor and eventually turning off the PC. Problem occurs in normal use. Temperature is just about stable when the system is idle, but almost any app pushes the CPU temperature higher.
This is a new development: this same system has been running fine up until a few days ago. The problems started after I messed up an ENB install for Skyrim. I intended to upgrade the ENBSeries plugin and stupidly installed the oldest available version rather than the most recent. That put a lot of stress on the system, and now the system overheats even without any game running.
The problem also seems to happen in Linux. I have a dual boot system, and while I haven't got the Linux side set up for precise temperature monitoring, the fans run full-on and the machine runs slow even in Linux. So it's probably not a purely software issue.
I've monitored the temperature with HWMonitor and Speccy and the CPU is the affected component. Everything else seems to be within acceptable levels.
Tried so far: Cleaned the fans and got the dust out of the case. Upgraded OS to Window 10 (mainly in the hopes that being able to use all that memory would help, after finding out that Win7 Home only used 8gb). Booted into Linux and run a virus check. Found and quarantined a couple of bitcoin-miner trojans (but I don't think that's the whole story because the machine is also slow and hot under Linux).
Yet to try: Taking the radiator out of the case and checking it. (I have blown compressed air through the thing from both sides). Verifying that the cooler pump is working. I also haven't yet tried manually setting all the fans tp 100% to see what's working, mainly because I don't yet know how. I'm also not sure the radiator fans are working. I can feel an air flow from the top of the case but it's nothing like the case fan (which is generally running at maximum) and it could well be explained by the case fans moving air around inside the case.
At this point I suspect that something has broken in the water cooler system. I'm not sure how to diagnose that or fix it, so advice would be welcome. I'm happy to take the system to the local repair shop, but I'd like to know what the issue is a bit more clearly first.
There is also, probably, a malware issue. Again, this is probably a recent thing, but passed me by entirely until I upgraded to Windows 10, so it could have been there for some time. Unfortunately, attempts to do a proper system scan are being impeded by the fact that I have a fairly short window before the system heats up to the point where nothing really happens.
That's all I can think of, offhand. Advice on the cooling issue and the malware side of it would be very welcome.

I literally have tens of thousands of dollars in top-shelf hardware, looking to repurpose some before selling on eBay to build a NAS system, possibly a dedicated firewall device as well. o_O

Q1) What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.**

A1) This will be a dedicated NAS system for my home network. As such, I'm looking to have it:

- Host ##TB's of 720, 1080 & up resolution Movies and TV Shows I'm about to begin ripping from a MASSIVE DVD & Blueray collection I have.

- My kids are big on Minecraft. I understand it's possible to host your own "worlds" (or whatever they call the maps you can build) on your own "server". I think it would be pretty neat to offer them (& their friends - if can be done 'safely/securely') their own partition on one of my NAS HDD's.

- I also have accounts with a couple diff VPN companies... I understand it's possible (?) to sync said VPN's with a NAS, this might be a more relative topic on the next point/purpose...

- I'd like to be able to remotely link to this NAS for when I travel overseas and want to stream at my temp location from my house/this NAS.

* A2) Here's where I make matters more complicated than most others would... I've been an advocate for Bitcoin and crypto-currencies in general since 2013. I invested in a small mining outfit back in 2014 (strictly Bitcoin/ASIC's). One of my buddies is the President of a large-scale mining operation (foreign and domestic) and he convinced me to dabble in the GPU mining-space. I made my first hardware purchase in Q4, 2017 and launched a small-scale GPU-Farm in my house since then. I had the rigs mining up until Q3 of 2018 (not cost-efficient to keep on, especially living in SoFlo) and since then, the hardware's been collecting dust (& pissing off my family members since they lost access to 3X rooms in the house - I won't let anyone go near my gear). One of my New Years Resolutions for 2019 was to clear out the house of all my mining equipment so that's all about to go up on eBay. So "budget" is relative to whatever I "MUST" spend if I can't repurpose any of the parts I already have on hand for this build... (Anyone having something I "need" and is looking to barter for one of the items I'll list later on in here, LMK).

That said; I've got a plethora of various other components that aren't even unboxed yet. 90% of the items I've purchased for this additional project were items that were marked down via MIR (mail-in-rebates) & what-not...
AFAIK, there are only 3X items I absolutely do not have which I 'MUST' find. Those would be - 1) Motherboard which accepts "ECC RAM". 2) CPU for said MOBO. 3) Said "ECC RAM".\*

A7) I don't think that's necessary for my intended purpose although - I'm not against it if that helps & FWIW, I'm pretty skilled @ this task already (it's not rocket science).

Q8) Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)**

A8) As stated in A4; ECC RAM is non-negotiable... RAID seems like a logical application here as well.

- This will predominantly be receiving commands from MacOS computers. I don't think that matters really but figured it couldn't hurt to let you guys know.\*

- I'd also be quite fond of implementing "PFSENSE" (or something of that caliber) applied to this system so I could give my Netgear Nighthawks less stress in that arena, plus my limited understanding of PFSENSE is that it's ability to act as a firewall runs circles around anything that comes with consumer-grade Wi-Fi routers (like my Nighthawks). Just the same, I'm open to building a second rig just for the firewall.\*

- Another desirable feature would be that it draws as little electricity from the wall as possible. (I'm EXTREMELY skilled in this arena. I have "Kill-A-Watts" to test/gauge on, as well as an intimate understanding of the differences between Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium rated PSU's. As well as having already measured each of the PSU's I have on-hand and taken note of the 'target TDP draw' ("Peak Power Efficiency Draw") each one offers when primed with X amount of GPU's when I used them for their original purpose.\*

- Last, but not least, sound (as in noise created from the rig). I'd like to prop this device up on my entertainment center in the living room. I've (almost) all of the top-shelf consumer grade products one could dream of regarding fans and other thermal-related artifacts.

- Almost forgot; this will be hosting to devices on the KODI platform (unless you guys have better alternative suggestions?)

A9) Definitely! Desired theme would be WHITE. If that doesn't work for whatever reason, black or gray would suffice. Regarding "Case Size". Nah, that's not too important although I don't foresee a mini-ITX build making sense if I'm going to be cramming double digit amounts of TB in the system, Internal HDD's sounds better than a bunch of externals plugged in all the USB ports.

Naturally, I have GPU's. Specifically;

At least 1X of every. Single. NVIDIA GTX 1070 TI (Yes, I have every variation of the 1070 ti made by MSI, EVGA and Zotac. The only brand I don't have is the Gigabyte line. My partners have terrible experience with those so I didn't even bother. I'm clearly not going to be needing a GPU for this build but again, I'm cool with discussing the idea of a barter if anyone reading this is in the market for one.

I also have some GTX 1080 TI's but those are already spoken for, sorry.

It's my understanding that select CPU's I have on this list are ECC Friendly and AFAIK, only 1 of my MOBO's claims to be ECC Friendly (The ASROCK AB350M PRO4), but for the life of me, I can't find any corresponding forums that confirm this and/or direct me to a listing where I can buy compatible RAM. Just the same, if I go w/ the ASROCK MOBO, that means I'd be using one of the Ryzens. Those are DEF. power hungry little buggers. Not a deal-breaker, just hoping to find something a little more conservative in terms of TDP.


In closing, I don't really need someone to hold my hand with the build part as much as figuring out which motherboard, CPU and RAM to get. Then I'm DEFINITELY going to need some guidance on what OS is best for my desired purpose. If building 2X Rigs makes sense, I'm totally open to that as well...

---- I also have a few other Wi-Fi routers (Apple Airport Extreme & some inferior Netgear's but I can only allocate so many WiFi Routers to so many WiFi channels w/out pissing off my neighbors) On that note, I have managed to convince my neighbors to let me in their house/WiFi configuration so we all have our hardware locked on specific, non-competing frequencies/channels so everyone's happy. :)


Please spare me the insults as I insulted myself throughout this entire venture. Part of why I did this was because when I was a kid, I used to fantasize about building a 'DREAM PC' but could never afford such. To compensate for this deficiency, I would actually print out the latest and greatest hardware components on a word document, print the lists up & tape to wall (for motivation). I was C++ certified at the age of 14 and built my first PC when I was 7. At the age of 15 I abandoned all hope in the sector and moved on to other aspirations. This entire ordeal was largely based off me finally fulfilling a childhood fantasy. On that note = mission accomplished. Now if I'm actually able to fulfill my desires on this post, I'm definitely going to feel less shitty about blowing so much money on all this stuff over the last couple years.

EDIT/UPDATE (5 hours after OP) - My inbox is being inundated with various people asking for prices and other reasonable questions about my hardware being up for sale. Not to be redundant but rather to expound on my previous remarks about 'being interested in a bartetrade' with any of you here...

I did say I was going to sell my gear on eBay in the near future, I also said I wanted to trade/barter for anything relative to helping me accomplish my OP's mission(s). I'm not desperate for the $$$ but I'm also not one of those people that likes to rip other people off. That said; I value my time and money invested in this hardware and I'm only willing to unload it all once I've established I have ZERO need for any of it here in my home first. Hence my writing this lengthy thread in an attempt to repurpose at least a grand or two I've already spent.

One of the most commonly asked questions I anticipate receiving from interested bodies is going to be "How hard were you on your hardware?" Contrary to what anyone else would have probably done in my scenario which is say they were light on it whether they were or weren't, I documented my handling of the hardware, and have no problem sharing such documentation with verified, interested buyers (WHEN THE TIME COMES) to offer you guys peace of mind.

I have photo's and video's of the venture from A-Z. I am also obliged to provide (redacted) electricity bill statements where you can correlate my photo's (power draw on each rig), and also accurately deduct the excess power my house consumed with our other household appliances. Even taking into consideration how much (more) I spent in electricity from keeping my house at a constant, cool 70-72F year-round (via my Nest thermostat). Even without the rigs, I keep my AC @ 70 when I'm home and for the last 1.5-2 years, I just so happened to spend 85% of my time here at my house. When I would travel, I'd keep it at 72 for my wife & kids.
Additionally; I had each GPU 'custom' oveunderclocke'd (MSI Afterburner for all GPU's but the EVGA's).*
I doubt everyone reading this is aware so this is for those that don't.... EVGA had the brilliant idea of implementing what they call "ICX technology" in their latest NVIDIA GTX GPU's. The short(est) explanation of this "feature" goes as follows:

EVGA GPU's w/ "ICX 9 & above" have EXTRA HEAT/THERMAL SENSORS. Unlike every other GTX 1070 ti on the market, the one's with this feature actually have each of 2/2 on-board fans connected to individual thermal sensors. Which means - if you were to use the MSI Afterburner program on one of these EVGA's and create a custom fan curve for it, you'd only be able to get 1/2 of the fans to function the way intended. The other fan simply would not engage as the MSI Afterburner software wasn't designed/coded to recognize/ communicate with an added sensor (let alone sensor'S). This, in-turn, would likely result in whoever's using it the unintended way having a GPU defect on them within the first few months I'd imagine... Perhaps if they had the TDP power settings dumbed down as much as I did (60-63%), they might get a year or two out of it since it wouldn't run as near as hot, but I doubt any longer than that since cutting off 50% of the cooling system on one of these can't be ignored too long, surely capacitors would start to blow and who knows what else...
(Warning = RANT) Another interesting side-note about the EVGA's and their "Precision-X" OveUnderclocking software is that it's designed to only recognize 4X GPU's on a single system. For miners, that's just not cool. My favorite builds had 8X and for the motherboards that weren't capable of maintaining stable sessions on 8, I set up with 6X. Only my EVGA Rigs had 3 or 4X GPU's dedicated to a single motherboard. Furthermore, and as stated in an earlier paragraph, (& this is just my opinion) = EVGA SOFTWARE SUCKS! Precision X wasn't friendly with every motherboard/CPU I threw at it and their extension software for the CLC Close-Loop-Cooling/ CPU water-coolers simply didn't work on anything, even integrating into their own Precision-X software. The amount of time it took me to finally find compatible matches with that stuff was beyond maddening. (END RANT).
Which leads me to my other comments on the matter. That's what I had every single 1070 ti set at for TDP = 60-63%. Dropping the power load that much allowed me to bring down (on average) each 1070 ti to a constant 110-115W (mind you, this is only possible w/ "Titanium" rated PSU's, Platinum comes pretty damn close to the Titanium though) while mining Ethereum and was still able to maintain a bottom of 30 MH/s and a ceiling of 32 MH/s. Increasing the TDP to 80, 90, 100% or more only increased my hashrates (yields) negligibly, like 35-36 MH/s TOPS, which also meant each one was not only pulling 160-180W+ (Vs. the aforementioned 115'ish range), it also meant my rigs were creating a significantly greater amount of heat! Fortunately for the GPU's and my own personal habits, I live in South Florida where it's hot as balls typically, last winter was nothing like this one. Increasing my yields by 10-15% didn't justify increasing the heat production in my house by >30%, nor the added electricity costs from subjecting my AC handlers to that much of an extra work-load. For anyone reading this that doesn't know/understand what I'm talking about - after spending no less than 2-3 hours with each. and. every. one. I didn't play with the settings on just one and universally apply the settings to the rest. I found the 'prime' settings and documented them with a label-maker and notepad. Here's the math in a more transparent manner:

*** I NEVER LET MY GPU's BREACH 61C, EVER. Only my 8X GPU rigs saw 60-61 & it was the ones I had in the center of the build (naturally). I have REALLY high power fans (used on BTC ASIC MINERS) that were sucking air from those GPU's which was the only way I was able to obtain such stellar results while mining with them. **\*
Mining at "acceptable" heat temps (not acceptable to me, but most of the internet would disagree = 70C) and overclocking accordingly brings in X amount of yields per unit. =
'Tweaking' (underclocking) the GPU's to my parameters reduced my yield per unit from -10-15%, but it SAVED me well over 30-35% in direct electricity consumption, and an unknown amount of passive electricity consumption via creating approximately 20%+ less heat for my AC handler to combat.

I say all this extra stuff not just for anyone interested in mining with their GPU's, but really to answer (in-depth) the apparent questions you people are asking me in PM's. Something else that should help justify my claims of being so conservative should be the fact I only have/used "Platinum and Titanium" rated PSU's. Heat production, power efficiency and longevity of the hardware were ALWAYS my top priority.* . I truly thought Crypto would continue to gain and/or recover and bounce back faster than it did. If this project had maintained positive income for 12 months+, I'd have expanded one of our sites to also cater to GPU mining on a gnarly scale.

Once I have my NAS (& possibly 2nd rig for the firewall) successfully built, I'll be willing/able to entertain selling you guys some/all of the remaining hardware prior to launching on eBay. If there's something you're specifically looking for that I listed having, feel free to PM me with that/those specific item(s). Don't count on an immediate response but what you can count on is me honoring my word in offering whoever asks first right of refusal when the time comes for me to sell this stuff. Fortunately for me, PM's are time-stamped so that's how I'll gauge everyone's place in line. I hope this extra edit answers most of the questions you guys wanted to have answered and if not, sorry I guess. I'll do my best to bring light to anything I've missed out on after I realize whatever that error was/is. Understanding Crypto Mining | And perhaps a way to mitigate its impact on the PC gaming ecosystem

Once you reach 0.002 BTC (about 7-10 days on my GTX 1060 + i7-7700k), you can transfer your earnings to Coinbase for free, and cash out. CB does have fees for conversion to Fiat (cash) and your percentage goes down with higher amounts. So don't cash out just because you can. Cash out when you have enough to buy something.
Also a note on taxes. I'm going to keep this simple.
Hi folks. I just want to thank those of you in advance who trudge through this post. It's going to be long. I will try to have a TLDR at the end, so just scroll down for the bolded text if you want Cliff's Notes.
Disclaimer: I'm a miner, sort of. I casually mine when I sleep/work, using my existing PC. It doesn't make much. I don't buy hardware for mining. But, I still wanted to post this disclaimer in the interest of fairness.
As we all know, cryptocurrency mining has had a devastating impact on the PC gaming ecosystem. The demand for GPUs for mining has lead to scarce availability and sky high prices for relevant hardware. But even hardware that is less desirable for mining relative to their peers (GTX 1050ti, 1080) has been impacted. Why? Because when gamers can't get the 1060 or 1070 that they desire, they gravitate en masse towards something that their finances will allow them to settle for.
But for all that we know about mining, there's still a LOT of myth and misinformation out there. And I blame this on the bigger miners themselves. They have a few tactics they're using to discourage competition. Now, why would they do this? Simply put, the more coins are mined, the harder the algorithms get. That means the same hardware mines a lower rate of cryptocurrency over time. If the mining rates were to get too low before new hardware (Volta/Navi) could be released, it would cause a massive depression in the cryptocurrency market. Most hardware would become unprofitable, and used GPUs would flood the market. Miners want to retain profitability on current hardware until the next generation hardware is out.
So, what tactics are they engaging in? Silence and manipulation. On the former, the bigger miners don't usually participate and contribute to the community (there are exceptions, and they are greatly appreciated). They're sponges, taking whatever the community provides without returning much to the community. On the latter, they post here, in this very sub occasionally. And they continue to push certain types of myth/misinformation to discourage other users from mining.
And why, of all people, would you discourage gamers from mining? It's because of the competition point mentioned above. If a massive number of gamers entered the cryptocurrency mining market, it could trigger a mining apocalypse. There's an estimated 3-4 million current-gen GPUs being used in 24/7 mining operations by dedicated miners. Now, how many current-gen GPUs are used by gamers? I'd bet at least an equal amount. But what about Maxwell and Kepler? Or all those GCN-based GPUs up through Fiji? Bottom line is that when you factor in all available profitable GPUs, gamers drastically outnumber dedicated miners (yes, Kepler and GCN 1.0 are still profitable, barely). And if a large number of those users started casually mining as I am, the following would occur:
  • difficulty would increase, lower output (profitability) for everyone involved
  • Coin creation would initially accelerate, and with no massive change to the market cap, that means per-coin value drops
  • when you factor in slower coin generation for individual miners, coupled with lower coin value, you get...
  • ROI length increase on GPUs, depressing their values, which would lead to lower prices and higher availability
Oh dear, someone just spilled the beans...
So naturally, misinformation needs to be spread. If dedicated miners can keep the uninformed, well, uninformed, they're less likely to join in. And I've seen variations of the following misinformation spread. Here's the common tropes, and my rebuttal.
Mining on your GPU will cause it to die prematurely.
I really wish we had a Blackblaze-equivalent for GPUs used in data centers. NOTHING punishes a GPU like full-time use in a data center. Not mining, not gaming, and not prosumer usage. And these companies pay thousands per GPU. Clearly, they're getting solid ROI for their use.
But let's talk about mining specifically. For my GTX 1060, I limit power to 80% (96W). Fan speed is at a constant 40% (that's in the same ballpark as your blower-style GPU in desktop usage). Temperature is a constant 75°C. That's gentle. Gaming hurts it more (start/stop on the fan, varying temps, quick rise at the start and fall at the end, varying loads, etc.).
And if GPUs did prematurely die from mining? One miner insisted that I'd never see an ROI on my 1060 (which cost me $240) because it would die before I could earn that amount. Yea, GPUs routinely die before hitting their ROI. That's why miners are buying $200 GPUs today for $500, or $400 GPUs today for $900. Because they don't generate enough to cover their MSRP, let alone their current gouged prices. /s
Common sense would dictate that miners are profitable, or they wouldn't mine. Therefore, GPUs are not dying prematurely. So, don't fall for this one. And yes, I've seen those photos of the 20-card Sapphire RMA. Mining data centers have THOUSANDS of cards. Just do an image search for a GPU mining farm. This is well within typical acceptable defect rates.
Power costs are too high for mining to be profitable.
Warning! Danger Will Robinson! Math ahead!
Where I live, electricity ranges from 9.5 cents per kilowatt hour (kw/hr), to 10.1 cents per kw/hr. Let's round to 10 cents. Power measured at the wall from my surge protector, while mining, shows just under 200W. (That's includes my tower, monitor, speakers, a dedicated NAS, a router, and PSU inefficiency). That also includes mining on both CPU and GPU.
At 200W per hour, that's 5 hours to hit 1kw/hr. That's 5kw/hr per 25 hours, so let's call it 5kw/hr per day. That is $0.50 per day total from that outlet (and most of this stuff would be running anyway). That's not even "over my existing costs," that's just out the door.
Bottom line is that electricity is cheap in many areas. The USA national average is currently ~12 cents per kw/hr (RIP Hawaii, at 33 cents). For most of the developed world, power costs are not prohibitive. Don't fall for this. If unsure, check your rates on your bill, and ask someone who can do math if you can't.
Casually mining isn't profitable
There's a big difference between "profit" and "getting rich." I have no expectations of the latter happening from what I'm doing. But "profit" is very much real. It's not power costs that derail profitability. It's all of the hidden fees. Many mining programs take a cut of your output. And then a cut to transfer to a wallet. And then there's a fee to transfer to an exchange. Oh, did you want to then convert to cash? We can...for a fee!
The trick is in finding outlets that allow you to minimize fees. I give up 2% of my output, transfer to my wallet for free, can transfer to an exchange for free, and don't plan to cash out every time I meet the minimum threshold (higher fees!). I instead plan to cash out at extended set intervals to minimize those fees.
NOTE: I am deliberately not listing the provider(s) that I use, because I don't want to be accused of being associated with them and/or driving business to them. I want this post to be about the big picture. But I will answer questions in the comments, provided the moderation staff here has no objections.
Bottom line is that with a mid-range GPU like mine, and without the benefit of CPU mining (it's just not worth it without a modern Core i7, or Ryzen 5/7), my GPU alone could make me ~$60-$75/mo in profit at current rates. Think of how many months/years you go between upgrades. Now, do the math. Needless to say, I'm now regretting not going bigger up front :)
It's too complicated for a casual miner, so don't bother
The old "go big or go home" saying, and it sort of piggy backs off the last one. And there is some truth in this. If you're going to be a big-time miner, you need mining programs (often dedicated to each algorithm and/or currency), multiple wallets, access to multiple exchanges, etc. It's daunting.
But for the casual, you don't need that. There are multiple providers who offer you a one-stop-shop. I have one login right now. That login gives me my mining software, which switches between multiple algorithms/coins, gives me a wallet, and lets me transfer to an outside wallet/exchange. My second login will be the exchange (something that lets me convert my currency to local cash) when my balance justifies it. Given the recent Robin Hood announcement, I'm biding my time to see what happens. This space is getting competitive (lower fees).
Bottom line, it's easier now than it ever was before. As I told someone else, "Once I finally started, I wanted to kick my own ass for waiting so long."
New GPUs are expensive, but if you just wait, there will be a buttload of cheap, used GPUs for you!
Miners learned from the last crash. There were two types of miners in that crash: those who sold their GPUs at a loss, and those who kept mining and made out like bandits on the upswing. Turns out, cryptocurrency really does mimic the stock market (for now).
We're going to look at Bitcoin (BTC) to explain this. No, miners don't mine BTC. But, BTC is commonly what most coins are exchanged for (it makes up roughly one third of the entire cryptocurrency market). And it's the easiest currency to convert to cash. So, when BTC rises or falls in price, the rest of the market goes with it. That includes all of the coins that GPU miners are actually mining.
In January 2017, when the current mining push started, BTC was worth roughly $900 per coin. It's now worth roughly (as of this post) $12,000 per coin, down from a December high of over $20,000 per coin. So yea, the market "crashed." It's also more than 12x the value it was a year ago, when miners dove in. You think they're going to bail at 12x the value? Son, I've got news for you. This market needs to truly crash and burn for them to bail (and that's where you come in!).
So, there's not going to be a flood of used GPUs from a sudden market crash. Again, they've learned from that mistake. Used GPUs will enter the market when they are no longer profitable for mining, and not before. Dedicated miners have lots of room for expansion. When Volta comes out, they're not selling their Pascal GPUs. They're building new Volta mining rigs alongside the Pascal ones, making money off each of them.
Conclusion/TLDR:
  • Mining is subject to diminishing returns. It gets harder over time on the same hardware.
  • PC gamers joining the market en masse could trigger an apocalypse in terms of difficulty
  • Due to this, it benefits pro miners to spread misinformation to discourage gamers from entering the mining game
  • Casually mining on your existing system is safe, easy, could help you pay for your next upgrade(s), and could also hurt the mining market in general (better availability/pricing on GPUs)
  • No, there's no flood of used Pascal/Polaris/Vega GPUs around the corner, as those are HIGHLY profitable even in a depressed market
Second Conclusion - Why do I (jaykresge) personally care?
Simply put, I'm disgusted by this. I was excited about flipping a few friends from consoles to PC gaming. I'm now seeing a reverse trend. One friend is gaming on an RX 560 waiting for prices to hit sanity. He's running out of patience. Others have bailed.
I view our dormant GPUs as the best weapon against cryptocurrency mining. Destroy it from the inside. It's win-win for most of us. Either we earn enough for more upgrades, or we depress pricing. Something's got to give.
In other words, y'all f*ckers better start mining, because I want Volta to be reasonably priced when it launches so I can get an EVGA x80 Hybrid to go with a G-Sync monitor. And if this doesn't happen, I'm going to be cranky!

COSMiC v4.1.3 - the GUI-based, High-Performance Ethereum Token Miner [ ERC-918/0xBTC | nVidia/CUDA | Win64 ]

Hello everyone! I'm happy to share what I've been working on with you today. This is an update to the COSMiC V4 token miner (for nVidia/CUDA devices and Windows 7 or newer, 64-bit). This version makes substantial improvements to nearly every area of the miner (detailed below.)

Understanding Crypto Mining | And perhaps a way to mitigate its impact on the PC gaming ecosystem

This is a crosspost from /hardware, but I will be editing this independently based on community feedback and guidelines. Prior to posting here, I reached out to your local mod staff to ensure that I wasn't stepping on any toes, given the nature of its content. I hope you find this useful.
Hi folks. I just want to thank those of you in advance who trudge through this post. It's going to be long. I will try to have a TLDR at the end, so just scroll down for the bolded text if you want Cliff's Notes.
Disclaimer: I'm a miner, sort of. I casually mine when I sleep/work, using my existing PC. It doesn't make much. I don't buy hardware for mining. But, I still wanted to post this disclaimer in the interest of fairness.
As we all know, cryptocurrency mining has had a devastating impact on the PC gaming ecosystem. The demand for GPUs for mining has lead to scarce availability and sky high prices for relevant hardware. But even hardware that is less desirable for mining relative to their peers (GTX 1050ti, 1080) has been impacted. Why? Because when gamers can't get the 1060 or 1070 that they desire, they gravitate en masse towards something that their finances will allow them to settle for.
But for all that we know about mining, there's still a LOT of myth and misinformation out there. And I blame this on the bigger miners themselves. They have a few tactics they're using to discourage competition. Now, why would they do this? Simply put, the more coins are mined, the harder the algorithms get. That means the same hardware mines a lower rate of cryptocurrency over time. If the mining rates were to get too low before new hardware (Volta/Navi) could be released, it would cause a massive depression in the cryptocurrency market. Most hardware would become unprofitable, and used GPUs would flood the market. Miners want to retain profitability on current hardware until the next generation hardware is out.
So, what tactics are they engaging in? Silence and manipulation. On the former, the bigger miners don't usually participate and contribute to the community (there are exceptions, and they are greatly appreciated). They're sponges, taking whatever the community provides without returning much to the community. On the latter, they post here, in this very sub occasionally. And they continue to push certain types of myth/misinformation to discourage other users from mining.
And why, of all people, would you discourage gamers from mining? It's because of the competition point mentioned above. If a massive number of gamers entered the cryptocurrency mining market, it could trigger a mining apocalypse. There's an estimated 3-4 million current-gen GPUs being used in 24/7 mining operations by dedicated miners. Now, how many current-gen GPUs are used by gamers? I'd bet at least an equal amount. But what about Maxwell and Kepler? Or all those GCN-based GPUs up through Fiji? Bottom line is that when you factor in all available profitable GPUs, gamers drastically outnumber dedicated miners (yes, Kepler and GCN 1.0 are still profitable, barely). And if a large number of those users started casually mining as I am, the following would occur:
  • difficulty would increase, lower output (profitability) for everyone involved
  • Coin creation would initially accelerate, and with no massive change to the market cap, that means per-coin value drops
  • when you factor in slower coin generation for individual miners, coupled with lower coin value, you get...
  • ROI length increase on GPUs, depressing their values, which would lead to lower prices and higher availability
Oh dear, someone just spilled the beans...
So naturally, misinformation needs to be spread. If dedicated miners can keep the uninformed, well, uninformed, they're less likely to join in. And I've seen variations of the following misinformation spread. Here's the common tropes, and my rebuttal.
Mining on your GPU will cause it to die prematurely.
I really wish we had a Blackblaze-equivalent for GPUs used in data centers. NOTHING punishes a GPU like full-time use in a data center. Not mining, not gaming, and not prosumer usage. And these companies pay thousands per GPU. Clearly, they're getting solid ROI for their use.
But let's talk about mining specifically. For my GTX 1060, I limit power to 80% (96W). Fan speed is at a constant 40% (that's in the same ballpark as your blower-style GPU in desktop usage). Temperature is a constant 75°C. That's gentle. Gaming hurts it more (start/stop on the fan, varying temps, quick rise at the start and fall at the end, varying loads, etc.).
And if GPUs did prematurely die from mining? One miner insisted that I'd never see an ROI on my 1060 (which cost me $240) because it would die before I could earn that amount. Yea, GPUs routinely die before hitting their ROI. That's why miners are buying $200 GPUs today for $500, or $400 GPUs today for $900. Because they don't generate enough to cover their MSRP, let alone their current gouged prices. /s
Common sense would dictate that miners are profitable, or they wouldn't mine. Therefore, GPUs are not dying prematurely. So, don't fall for this one. And yes, I've seen those photos of the 20-card Sapphire RMA. Mining data centers have THOUSANDS of cards. Just do an image search for a GPU mining farm. This is well within typical acceptable defect rates.
Power costs are too high for mining to be profitable.
Warning! Danger Will Robinson! Math ahead!
Where I live, electricity ranges from 9.5 cents per kilowatt hour (kw/hr), to 10.1 cents per kw/hr. Let's round to 10 cents. Power measured at the wall from my surge protector, while mining, shows just under 200W. (That's includes my tower, monitor, speakers, a dedicated NAS, a router, and PSU inefficiency). That also includes mining on both CPU and GPU.
At 200W per hour, that's 5 hours to hit 1kw/hr. That's 5kw/hr per 25 hours, so let's call it 5kw/hr per day. That is $0.50 per day total from that outlet (and most of this stuff would be running anyway). That's not even "over my existing costs," that's just out the door.
Bottom line is that electricity is cheap in many areas. The USA national average is currently ~12 cents per kw/hr (RIP Hawaii, at 33 cents). For most of the developed world, power costs are not prohibitive. Don't fall for this. If unsure, check your rates on your bill, and ask someone who can do math if you can't.
Casually mining isn't profitable
There's a big difference between "profit" and "getting rich." I have no expectations of the latter happening from what I'm doing. But "profit" is very much real. It's not power costs that derail profitability. It's all of the hidden fees. Many mining programs take a cut of your output. And then a cut to transfer to a wallet. And then there's a fee to transfer to an exchange. Oh, did you want to then convert to cash? We can...for a fee!
The trick is in finding outlets that allow you to minimize fees. I give up 2% of my output, transfer to my wallet for free, can transfer to an exchange for free, and don't plan to cash out every time I meet the minimum threshold (higher fees!). I instead plan to cash out at extended set intervals to minimize those fees.
NOTE: I am deliberately not listing the provider(s) that I use, because I don't want to be accused of being associated with them and/or driving business to them. I want this post to be about the big picture. But I will answer questions in the comments, provided the moderation staff here has no objections.
Bottom line is that with a mid-range GPU like mine, and without the benefit of CPU mining (it's just not worth it without a modern Core i7, or Ryzen 5/7), my GPU alone could make me ~$60-$75/mo in profit at current rates. Think of how many months/years you go between upgrades. Now, do the math. Needless to say, I'm now regretting not going bigger up front :)
It's too complicated for a casual miner, so don't bother
The old "go big or go home" saying, and it sort of piggy backs off the last one. And there is some truth in this. If you're going to be a big-time miner, you need mining programs (often dedicated to each algorithm and/or currency), multiple wallets, access to multiple exchanges, etc. It's daunting.
But for the casual, you don't need that. There are multiple providers who offer you a one-stop-shop. I have one login right now. That login gives me my mining software, which switches between multiple algorithms/coins, gives me a wallet, and lets me transfer to an outside wallet/exchange. My second login will be the exchange (something that lets me convert my currency to local cash) when my balance justifies it. Given the recent Robin Hood announcement, I'm biding my time to see what happens. This space is getting competitive (lower fees).
Bottom line, it's easier now than it ever was before. As I told someone else, "Once I finally started, I wanted to kick my own ass for waiting so long."
New GPUs are expensive, but if you just wait, there will be a buttload of cheap, used GPUs for you!
Miners learned from the last crash. There were two types of miners in that crash: those who sold their GPUs at a loss, and those who kept mining and made out like bandits on the upswing. Turns out, cryptocurrency really does mimic the stock market (for now).
We're going to look at Bitcoin (BTC) to explain this. No, miners don't mine BTC. But, BTC is commonly what most coins are exchanged for (it makes up roughly one third of the entire cryptocurrency market). And it's the easiest currency to convert to cash. So, when BTC rises or falls in price, the rest of the market goes with it. That includes all of the coins that GPU miners are actually mining.
In January 2017, when the current mining push started, BTC was worth roughly $900 per coin. It's now worth roughly (as of this post) $12,000 per coin, down from a December high of over $20,000 per coin. So yea, the market "crashed." It's also more than 12x the value it was a year ago, when miners dove in. You think they're going to bail at 12x the value? Son, I've got news for you. This market needs to truly crash and burn for them to bail (and that's where you come in!).
So, there's not going to be a flood of used GPUs from a sudden market crash. Again, they've learned from that mistake. Used GPUs will enter the market when they are no longer profitable for mining, and not before. Dedicated miners have lots of room for expansion. When Volta comes out, they're not selling their Pascal GPUs. They're building new Volta mining rigs alongside the Pascal ones, making money off each of them.
Conclusion/TLDR:
  • Mining is subject to diminishing returns. It gets harder over time on the same hardware.
  • PC gamers joining the market en masse could trigger an apocalypse in terms of difficulty
  • Due to this, it benefits pro miners to spread misinformation to discourage gamers from entering the mining game
  • Casually mining on your existing system is safe, easy, could help you pay for your next upgrade(s), and could also hurt the mining market in general (better availability/pricing on GPUs)
  • No, there's no flood of used Pascal/Polaris/Vega GPUs around the corner, as those are HIGHLY profitable even in a depressed market
Second Conclusion - Why do I (jaykresge) personally care?
Simply put, I'm disgusted by this. I was excited about flipping a few friends from consoles to PC gaming. I'm now seeing a reverse trend. One friend is gaming on an RX 560 waiting for prices to hit sanity. He's running out of patience. Others have bailed.
I view our dormant GPUs as the best weapon against cryptocurrency mining. Destroy it from the inside. It's win-win for most of us. Either we earn enough for more upgrades, or we depress pricing. Something's got to give.
In other words, y'all f*ckers better start mining, because I want Volta to be reasonably priced when it launches so I can get an EVGA x80 Hybrid to go with a G-Sync monitor. And if this doesn't happen, I'm going to be cranky!

At my wit's end with virus removal

So I have at least one virus on my computer. The one I know of is some sort of bitcoin miner, I know this because my gpu usage is constantly at 100% and the fan goes crazy as well as hitmanpro categorizing files with names like bitcoinminer.
I have managed to remove every suspicious file I could find and ran antivirus and antimalware until they couldn't detect anything else but the virus keeps coming back.
The main places I think the virus is focused around are the ~C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Local\Temp~ and ~C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Local\WinSXS~ folders.
I have booted into safe mode, deleted everything in the temp folder, and gave myself permission to delete the WinSXS folder. Every time I boot normally the WinSXS folder just comes back. I know something is up with this folder because rkill always terminates it as well as the other antimalware not liking it.
When I normally boot there is a folder in the temp folder with a name that's just random strings of numbers and letters that I can't delete. It says it's open in another program. I searched the folder name is the resource monitor cpu tab and it was associated with svchost.exe and a couple other things. I'm wondering is the virus is somehow tied to svchost.
So here's a rundown of the steps I've been taking (repeatedly) to try to take care of this.
  1. Boot into safe mode (by switching my psu off then on to get to the boot menu)
  2. Show hidden files and folders
  3. Delete everything from the local\temp folder
  4. Delete unknown files from C:\\ProgramData and C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming
  5. Remove any weird keys from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
  6. Empty Recycle Bin
  7. Run rkill
  8. Run adwcleaner
  9. Run malwarebytes (with rootkit checker)
  10. Run Hitmanpro
  11. Run combofix
  12. Run the trojan remover from https://www.simplysup.com/
  13. Reboot computer normally
  14. Run malwarebytes, watch as it finds the same walwares as a million times before
  15. Listen to my fan speed fluctuate like crazy
  16. Run rkill, it kills a WinSXS process, which does nothing
  17. Cry uncontrollably
So uh, what the hell should I do?

COSMiC Miner v4.1.2 Update (Win64/nVidia | GUI-based | Multi-GPU)

This is an update to COSMiC Miner which adds new features, under-the-hood improvements and (of course) optimizations to the CUDA core for greater efficiency. Im at the end of my wits. This is too random for me to diagnose.. please help.

Ok... where to start...
Things my computer is/isnt :
The problem :
What the crash looks like :
Game freezes in the last frame, then screen turns black. You can still hear the sound, as if the game was still going. THIS IS TRUE IN ALL THOSE GAMES, and what makes me think its related. Sometimes theres an error, and when you click OK, you are back on desktop, sometimes there isnt and you need to kill the process with Task Manager to unfreeze the PC. Nvidia driver will say it crashed and has restarted, from the task bar. And sometimes, if you restart the game after a crash like that, and then get another crash, this time the game will freeze, turn to black, beep twice, and restart the whole PC. At the moment of crash all temperatures are normal, memory usage is insignificant,

What i did so far to try and fix it
First off, ive been sifting through all sorts of forums for the past 3 days, googling every single erro crash scenario. This is what ive tried so far :
So Yeah...
I have tested more games. Games like Spec Ops, Hard Reset, Firewatch, Condemned, i ran them all on 4k DSR with maxed AA and AF, AO, and everything else i could throw at them, and have not crashed....though.. i only played them for a little while, not for hours like those other games. So its odd as fuck, cause some games seem to crash more often when the stress is higher, but when other games are stressed, they dont crash at all. Sure, a hardware fault has crossed my mind, but i definitely cant afford to replace anything at this point in time, and if it is a hardware fault, its a damn odd one. I never had crashes this bad before, and when i did, i resolved them quickly with Google. The only crash i had before, was Rust, but i thought that was normal, since Rust usually crashes for a lot of people. Then i bought Prey and Dishonored, and realized that maybe this is a problem i always had, but never came forward cause i wasnt playing any really demanding games at the time, aside from Rust. So now i dont know what to think, when thinking what started all this.
Desperate theory?
Could a specific component of the GPU, like a SLI controller, or a shader thingy, or a random thingy be responsible ? Cause it seems like its only crashing in super new games. Could a new feature be triggering some broken component on the GPU, or some odd extension only used in new games ? Im at the end of me here, i dont know what else to try. Reinstalling windows for 3-4 crashing games seems like overkill, especially since it would inconvenience me greatly due to the work stuff i have on it. Thanks for your help.

New to the mining game and Nicehash, advice please

Hey guys, I'm very new to the game of coin mining and selling hashing power (about a month in so far). I ran [email protected] for years on my previous GPU's and CPU's and I think that's a great cause and use of otherwise idle hardware. With that said, I also like money :) I'm looking for some help in optimizing my system, managing transactions and understanding tax implications.
Background/Specs: -GTX 1080 Ti (EVGA SC2 Hybrid, OC'd a bit, max temp 52C) -Intel 6700k @ 4.5GHz -NiceHash Miner v1.7.5.13 (I tried V2 in Alpha a few weeks ago and had issues) -$0.056 per kWh -Max 500 Watt draw at the wall using kill-a-watt (includes monitor, router, printer, etc.) -Currently using Coinbase as my wallet
When I started a few weeks ago, I was making nearly $9 per day... I know this is due to the Bitcoin price swings and uncertainty of crypto in general recently. I use my PC for gaming and other stuff probably around 6 hours per week and mine the rest of the time. So far I've made about .1 BTC ($260) which I certainly can't complain about.
My CPU is running about 200 H/s on CryptoNight. I tried tweaking a bit per https://github.com/nicehash/NiceHashMinewiki/Notes-and-hints-on-CPU-mining by enabling locked pages but didn't see any bump in performance. I'm only seeing 40% - 60% utilization on cores/threads. As I'm typing this I'm pulling down about $0.39 per day. Any other idea for bumping performance here? My 1080ti is pulling around $4 ~ $6 per ($5.25 on Lbry as I type this). Are these #'s reasonable, anything I should be doing settings wise?
Finally, taxes. I have another job... assume I should be reporting these NiceHash BTC deposits as income. I see Coinbase has a transaction history which shoes my BTC deposits and $ value at the time. What can I write off? Only my GPU was purchased this year, the rest of the hardware was already in place. My PC hardware assets, power, internet, office space, etc. are being used 162 out of 168 hours per week (96%).

Par conséquent, l’anonymat offert par Monero dépasse largement celui des autres cryptomonnaies. À ce jour (depuis le fork de septembre), 100% des transactions cachent l'émetteur, le receveur et le montant. Il n'y a également aucune raison d'avoir peur d'effectuer une transaction privée, puisque toutes les transactions Monero le sont. En aucun cas une transaction peut "briller" plus que les autres.

Pas pour le moment, mais il est possible d'utiliser l'interface officielle en la connectant à un nœud existant. C'est vrai que le client officiel est relativement lourd, mais les équipes de devs travaillent durement à son allègement.
Y a-t-il d'autre moyen de stocker des Moneroj ?
Oui, il existe plusieurs portefeuille pour mobile, mais nous ne les recommandons absolument pas car ils ne sont pas issus de développements officiels. Certains ont fait état de perte de Moneroj, de vol ou autre. Si vous voulez tout de même utilisez un portefeuille tiers, faites le en tout état de cause et de connaissance, et pour de petites sommes. La plupart de ces portefeuilles tiers possèdent vos clés privées (ce qui sert à générer votre adresse, et ne doit absolument pas être connue de quiconque (sauf peut-être un avocat, pour vos enfants au cas où )) et donc les moneroj présents ne vous appartiennent pas.
Comment acheter des moneroj ?
Il existe plusieurs plateformes d’échange de cryptomonnaies contre des devises.
Pour changer des crypto-monnaies entre elles:
En France, il existe La Maison du Bitcoin, qui permet d'acheter des bitcoin par virement ou carte bleue. Il suffit ensuite de changer les bitcoins pour des Moneroj (XMR) via Shapeshift ou une des plateformes d’échange listées ci-dessus.

Horrible Performance - Help?

Hello all,
Recently I redownloaded GW2 after a semi-long hiatus following the launch of HoT. Since HoT's launch, I have upgraded my PC significantly (full replacement) with much better components than I ever had in my old rig; yet for some reason, I cannot play the game on high settings on my machine whilst maintaining 60fps. In LA, I'm lucky to have 20 FPS consistently, if not 10-15.
My rig is as follows:
CPU - I7-6800K (stock clockrate) @ 3.40 GHz (12 logical cores) Memory - 16GB @ 2133MHz DDR4 GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (stock clockrate; MSI Armor) MoBo - Asus X-99A SSD - Samsung Evo 850 500 GB
I have tried the documented troubleshooting steps I've seen around on this reddit (specifying cores, forcing high-performance mode for the 1080 in GeForce Experience, deleting cache/temp files, repairing client, reinstalling drivers and game, using x64 client etc.) but haven't had any luck at all at getting any better performance. Whether I'm at the lowest of the low settings, or the highest of the high, the GPU sits at 98% load on this game (framerate changes between 22FPS - 50FPS in LA near dungeon gear vendors), and the game drops frames consistently. Disconnecting my second monitor does not change anything, load and performance remain constant.
I can currently pop on Overwatch, run the game on Ultra and play at a consistent 40-60 FPS depending on particle effects of the map/heroes. I can also pop into Witcher 3 and get between 30-60 FPS with the game cranked all the way up; yet GW2 chugs like crazy. My old machine, back when GW2 launched, had used a gen 2 I5 and an AMD Radeon 7870 and never had these issues (not as bad, anyways).
Does anyone have any insight or leads for me to go on? I really want to get back to playing (did Patriarch in Meguma earlier somehow) but I really can't take the awful frame drops.

Bitcoin miner trojans. FPS drops. Please help.

Just a TLDR Version:
I mined bitcoins using my gpu only with Nicehash mostly:AMD radeon r9 390. Temps never were over 80° and i only ran it for 8 hours being the longest time and others just a few hrs. Used nicehash version 1.7 something. Tried out sgminer. And tried out nicehash v2. Deleted all of them since. When gaming i started experiencing drastic fps drops.. Ran malwarebytes and hitmanpro. Quarantined/deleted a bunch of bitcoin miner trojans. Restarted computer. Rescanned with 0 threats detected. But problem with fps still persists. The trojan must be here still and is hiding very well. I have used task manager GPU Z and another gpu process manager. And I have no idea which file it could be. Its only the GPU as far as I can tell. The CPU is not acting odd at the moment.
If anyone can help me out. Please I'm begging you.
This has been hell. Especially since I need to focus on my homework and not my gaming pc dying on my right now as i have class in a few hours. And need to finish some illustrator drawings.
EDIT: CPU IS ACTING UP AS WELL All 4 cores of the intel i5 4690k are going up and down.. Never below 30%.

Driver crashes after update to last version

Status: RESOLVED
Computer Type: Desktop
GPU: Sapphire R9 270 OC Dual-X
CPU: I5 6400 Skylake
Motherboard: Asus H110M-K
RAM: HyperX 8GBx1 DDR4
PSU: 500W Thermaltake TR2S
Operating System & Version: Windows 10
GPU Drivers: 16.7.2
Chipset Drivers: I don't know
Background Applications: Randomly, mainly when gaming. But also happened when opening Radeon Settings.
Description of Problem: I get a "Display driver has stopped working" and the fullscreen application crashes.
Troubleshooting: Story time: I updated to the last version(16.7.1 at the time) from the website. After that, the crashes commence. Things I tried:
Anyway I can solve this without formatting my partitions?
EDIT1: I have huge loads while idle: 89% and the temp is like 70-80. EDIT2: I used Process Explorer(DL-ed from microsoft website) to see the processes which are using my GPU. Apparently Realtek HD Audio had a 1.5 GB GPU usage. I suspect a virus/bitcoin miner. I'll investigate more. EDIT3: I did a full scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and removed the file associated with the process. I have had no load while idle and no temperature problems. The crashes have stopped also. GPU fan randomly locking to 100%?

Hey all. Weird one for ya. I've got an Acer TC-105, and installed a Sapphire Radeon NITRO R7 360 2GB roughly a year ago. When the system was on Windows 8.1, it worked fine. I clean installed Windows 10, and now I'll randomly get the Radeon GPU fan turning on at 100% without any programs using the GPU.
So far I've verified that it's NOT the following:
The only way that I've found to effectively fix the problem is to restart.
System Specs:
I've noticed on every second bootup that I'll get get an "ACPI_BIOS_ERROR" on bootup. When reading about it, most places said that it was probably the bios battery, so I replaced that, but I still get the error every second bootup. It doesn't matter if it's started from power off, or a restart.
Other than that, my system's been rock solid. I can play Fallout 4, GTA 5, Just Cause 3, Eve Online, and Star Trek Online just fine. The GPU fan keeps the system cool. The max temp I've ever seen is 75c, and that had the fan whirring fairly loud, but not at 100%.
Am I missing anything? Clearly my system is haunted. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

GPU Idle Temps way too high, help!

Hey guys, I have a problem. Hoping you guys know what's up!
My GPU idle temperatures are way too high on standby. They idle at about 51°C (124 F). This is ridiculous, that's how much I get under full gaming load while playing Witcher 3. This is absolutely not normal. My usual idle temps hefore we MAX 30°C!!!

Things I already did to fix it:
  1. Checked for dust, my computer is super clean, so no dust
  2. Checked for bitcoin miners hiding in my system, no dice
  3. Switched PCIE slots, nothing changed
  4. My airflow is awesome, no issues there
I was going to change the thermal paste but the card was fine like 2 days ago, so I doubt the thermal paste decided to go to shit so fast, it would happen gradually.

So the problem was with me setting up the POWER MANAGEMENT MODE in the NVIDIA Control Panel to "Maximum Performance" and not "Adaptive". As soon as I put on "Adaptive" back on, my temps dropped DRAMATICALLY!

[BitCoin Miner Virus] Need assistance in it's removal.

Hi All,
I am a fully qualified Support Tech and have managed to download myself a BitCoin Miner Virus (or what I believe to be) on my Personal/Gaming computer.
How: Torrented FIFA 15, Installed It, Issues Ensued.
What: There are 2 processes that start up on boot, they are disguised as system processes:
svchost.exe
lsass.exe
They are located in the C:\Windows\Temp folder. I can kill the processes without issue and remove the .exe files, but they return on boot.
What Do They Do:
svchost.exe = runs CPU at 75%
lsass.exe = run GPU at 100%
I disconnected the internet to see if it was a BitCoin miner but they stayed @ 100%. Possibly disguising what they actually are.
What Have I Done So Far Result
Killed Processes, Deleted .EXE Processes die without issue and .EXE's delete immediately, but they return on Reboot.
Ran Malwarebytes... twice Located the problem .EXE files and removed them, also located some more versions located in IExplore/Temp directory and deleted but issue is persistant
Found and Removed Suspect Registry Entries There werent many but I search for SVCHOST and LSASS and located afew registry entries attached to FIFA15 installation keys and removed them
